The Lotus Elan M100 was a front-engined, small-sized sports car that debuted in 1989. At the time, the Lotus brand was owned by General Motors, who aimed to boost Lotus sales through this model. The American manufacturer invested 55 million USD into the project, and the car was tested for thousands of kilometers and hours continuously to achieve maximum durability. Its configuration was considered quite unusual, as it became the first (and ultimately the last) front-wheel-drive Lotus. Beneath its fiberglass bodywork sat a 1.6-liter DOHC engine—remarkably reliable yet again unconventional, since the power units were supplied by Isuzu. The car was available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions. Despite the large-scale investment, the small car’s commercial success fell short of expectations, with only 3,855 units produced in total. The vehicle offered for sale is stock-condition 1991 Lotus Elan M100. It was first registered in 1991 and was exported to Hungary in 2024.The same year Zsolt Csikós made video content featuring this exact car and during the summer of 2025 was bought by the current owner.
