A járműről
The A124 is the cabriolet version of the Mercedes-Benz W124 series, produced between 1991 and 1997. After the 1970s, this series marked Mercedes-Benz’s return to the market of open-top convertible sedans. Technically, the 124-series cabriolets differed significantly from their sedan and coupé counterparts. The open-top design required a reinforced chassis and body structure, which, after a complete redesign, made the car over 200 kg heavier than its mentioned siblings. Its soft top is a fully automatic fabric roof—an advanced feature for its time. Although over 2.7 million W124 models were sold in total, only 33,952 of these were convertibles, making the A124 a rare and desirable version within the series. The displayed vehicle is a 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300 CE-24. This model represents the cabriolet version of the 3.0-liter DOHC inline-six engine variant. Its first owner was a gentleman from Nuremberg, after which it was acquired by a company called Schwaben Klassiker, specializing in Mercedes-Benz vehicles and parts. It was later purchased by a private owner for personal use, who, in June 2024, sold it to its next and current Hungarian owner. At that time, the odometer showed 235,936 km, and the vehicle received its current 17-inch AMG Aero 2 wheels and a lowered suspension setup. Subsequently, it was acquired by its current owner, who presented it for exhibition in the museum. Its current odometer reading is 236,557 km. The car is in perfect condition. It has never been damaged and requires no type of body or paintwork repair. All interior components and surfaces are intact and in flawless condition. Mechanically, the vehicle is impeccable—no repairs are needed. The gearbox shifts smoothly and silently, the engine emits no blue or white smoke, and there is no rust present anywhere on the vehicle. The car features a left-hand-drive layout and rear-wheel drive. Moreover, this particular vehicle was specifically built for driving enthusiasts, as it was factory-equipped with a manual dog-leg transmission. This rare feature makes the exhibited vehicle a true collector’s gem, as out of the 6,343 CE-24 units produced, only around 1,000 were built with this configuration. The car also features several notable extras, including an external temperature gauge, electric antenna, black leather interior, Mercedes-Benz Audio 30 radio, and even a small refrigerator located beneath the center armrest for enhanced comfort.
